Law360 (October 31, 2019, 9:16 PM EDT) -- The U.S. government waded into a licensing dispute between HTC Corp. and Ericsson Inc. on Wednesday, telling the Fifth Circuit that HTC's view on obligations for standard-essential patent holders could undermine licensing markets and hurt innovation.
HTC is looking to overturn a jury verdict that found the rates Ericsson offered it on cellular patents were fair and reasonable, arguing the jury was not properly instructed on key issues.
